  • Developed Countries are better prepared to handle the impacts of disasters as well as the aftermath as they have greater capacity to manage disaster
  • Developing Countries are more vulnerable to natural disasters for the following reasons:
    • poorly constructed buildings
    • rapid population growth / high density population
    • limited resources for disaster response and rebuilding
    • lack of economic safety nets
